The Heart of Gissing CIO

The Heart of Gissing CIO is a registered charity. Charity Commission. no. 1161599

The charity holds in trust the permanent endowment known as The Old School Gissing, which is currently leased to Gissing Children’s Centre. Adjacent to this is The Gissing Community Building. Both buildings are managed by the trustees in accordance with the charity’s objectives.

These objectives include maintaining the two buildings, benefiting the local community by providing communal facilities and social activities, and awarding educational bursaries on a regular basis. The charity supports these commitments through fundraising activities and by hiring out the Community Building.

The Heart of Gissing CIO is proud to have recently received the South Norfolk Connecting Communities Award 2025. This recognition reflects over 22 years of positive impact on the local community—providing opportunities for social and cultural engagement, raising over £712,000 to build a state-of-the-art community facility, and harnessing local talent with a strong emphasis on care, inclusion, and community spirit. Through these efforts, the charity continues to enrich Gissing as a place to live
